Minister Nyirabashitsi calls for community involvement in opening up access roads in villages

  

Hon Nyirabashitsi Sarah Mateeke, the Minister of State for gender, labour and social development in charge of children and youths affairs has called for community involvement and participation in opening up community access roads for other development to reach deeper in the villages.

Hon Nyirabashitsi said this today during ground breaking of a 2km road that connects Kinyababa village to Gahinga village in Kinyababa ward, Cyanika town council.

Hon Nyirabashitsi spearheaded the opening of a road that connects Chahi-Ryaruhuri road from kabaya trading center in Kinyababa village to Kyanika-Ryaruhuri road in Kabara village.

The activity of starting the road attracted residents from four villages of Kinababa ward who voluntarily used their tools to open up the road.

The locals used hand tools that included hoes, spades, pickaxes, among others to cut the shrubs of the area while creating the access road.

“You must all embrace community work as one way of promoting development in your area.When chairpersons call you again,please come and finish the road”, minister said

She commended locals for the teamwork and also lauded the area leadership for being focused and visionary.

Minister Nyirabashitsi said other developments like electricity will reach the area when the road is accessible.

 Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateeke said the residents have to first do primary work of clearing and after she will take the tractor to work on it to make passable.

The Chanika town council LCV representative Nizeyimana Valence Nguri commended Hon Sarah for honoring his request of opening up the road.

He said it will help people transport their harvests easily.

Sanyu Erasmus the Chanika town council LC3 chairperson said people would either use kisoro main road or first go to Ryaruhuri when ridding or driving to Chanika because the road has been impassable for many years.

He commended Sarah Mateeke for understanding people’s concerns and finding solutions to them.

Ngiruwonsaga Sam the LC3 councilor of Kinyababa ward appreciated Hon Minister Sarah Mateeke for her role in developing communities.H said the road will enable people from Kinyababa access Cyanika town with ease after finishing it.

LC1 chairpersons of villages that make up Kinyababa ward also thanked Hon Minister Mateeke for opening up the road. They also thanked people who heeded to the call of working voluntarily.

Chairpersons said that farmers have been failing to transport their produce from gardens due to lack of an access road

Residents also thanked Hon Minister Mateeke Nyirabashitsi for spearheading the activity of opening up community road in their area.

The said the road will help them access their gardens and will be a shortcut to Cyanika town.
