Residents of Rutare village, Rutare parish in Chahi sub- county Kisoro district have welcomed the rehabilitation and opening of the Busaro – Rutare- Birembo road saying it is a an indication of development.

Residents argue that the road will boost transportation of their produce from Gardens to Markets.

They say the road has been impassable for long because part of it that stretches to Birembo village was narrow.

Resident says the opening of the road is an indication that they have started benefiting from taxes they pay to the government. They say that the poor state of the road also limited access to markets during the season of harvesting irish potatoes.

Residents of Rutare village say they have been pushing the leaders for the construction of the road for a very long time.

Robert Hashakimana, the Chahi Sub county LC3 Chairperson says the opening of the road is a relief to the residents. He explains that the alternative route is long from Chahi sub county headquarters posing farmers at risk of making losses.

Residents say the area is famous for the production of irish potatoes and traders could buy them at a low price because of roads.
