The Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary Dr. Dianah Atwiine has on Saturday afternoon received 3.5 million doses of J&j COVID-19 vaccine.
“Through the COVAX facility, Uganda has received a partial shipment of 3.05million doses of J&J vaccines from the Germany Govt. Additional 2.4m doses are expected on 9th of December & subsequently 4.5m before end of December. These will greatly boost our vaccination campaign.” Dr.Atwine wrote on her Twitter account.
These are 9,950,400 consolidated shared doses from the governments of Germany, Estonia, Italy and Belgium.
Dr. Atwine added that Germany has contributed 5.5m doses hence appreciating all the partner Govts, UNICEF, WHO, COVAX and the media for supporting thier push towards vaccinating Uganda’s population.
Earlier in the day Emmanuel Ainebyona the Health Ministry spokes person had said that the vaccine wiill reach in the country on Saturday afternoon
