The Kisoro district Deputy Resident district
commissioner (DRDC), Dan Ndikumwami well known as Danfordio Da Patriot for his
art has vowed to continue supporting the Ministry of health’s efforts to combat
covid-19 through sensitization songs.
On Sunday last week, Danfordio released a new song
titled “vaccination campaign song” calling upon all people above 18 years,
religious leaders, political leaders and cultural leaders to embrace covid-19
vaccination because the future for unvaccinated is dark.
The song has since attracted praise from leaders
especially the Kisoro district Covid-19 taskforce and the health department.
“The vaccination song, am the one who wrote it and i
recorded it, and you often hear that i have other six corona virus songs.
President and ministry of healthy come out and said all people should be
vaccinated that when I went ahead to compose the song because am a patriot”.Ndikumwami
says
In an exclusive interview with voice of Muhabura,
Danfordio said that he has always to make a contribution to his nation Uganda
as a patriot. He added that through singing, his message spreads wide hence
making a positive impact.
He hopes that the songs will show people that their
actions cabn help towards fighting the threat of covid-19.
He is also well known for his previous Covid-19
sensitization songs like Tonsemberela, We shall overcome, Corona sensitization
song, UPDF corona sensitization song, and Tujjakuwagula that he sung during the
hard times of Covid-19.
In Kigezi region, a total of 81,719 people have been
vaccinated in Kisoro, 53,639 in Kanungu, 42,872 in Kabale, 64,854 in Rugungiri,
19748 in Rukiga and 53481 in Rubanda. Danfordio says that he believes that his
song has impacted on the statistics because they increased after releasing his
song.
Meanwhile, he says that he will continue to balance
time for his government job and Music. He called upon local artistes to join
him and make more songs. He also called upon the public to continue going for
vaccination to live in harmony with government.
“Am very
happy that our people are responding,ihave the report and they are coming in
big number, I thank Bafumbira and bakimbiri for responding.we are not fighting
people instead we don’t want to lose them”.says Ndikumwami.
However Ndikumwami has asked the public to use the
music that has the full message in sensitizing for vaccination.
