Mourners left in shock after police whisk away dead body in Nyakabande Sub County

 Mourners were on Friday 17th December left in shock in Nturo village, Gisorora parish Nyakabande Sub County after police officers stormed a funeral service where a burial ceremony was underway and whisked away the body.

Mourners were on burial of Kanyange Sisiria of 55 years old and a resident of Nturo Village in Nyakabande Sub County who died on Tuesday this week.

Police intervened into the matter after deceased’s relatives from Rubona village suspected that Kanyange might have been killed and requested that postmortem should be done to find out the clear cause of Kanyange’s death.

Mariko Barikeka the chairperson of Nturo Basaza Kwifatanya group said that the one Nkurunziza Rushusha who is the cousin to the deceased yesterday came with police and removed the corpse from the coffin and took it.

Residents suspect that Kanyange Sisiria was killed by alcohol.  John Bosco the step son of the deceased called upon government to help and bring back the dead body because it was taken without people’s consent. He advised people of Nturo village to stop taking too much liquor adding that  3 people died in this month because of alcohol including his Father.

However most people in the village said that people of Nturo village always take alcohol and sleep in the way especially elders.

Nturo Clan have resolved that they will be carrying drunkards to the hospital and they will be paying hospital bills in the way of stopping such incidences which are common in the village. They say the grave that was dug is still open.

The chairperson of Nturo Basaza Kwifatanya group has since put announcements on radios  pining Nkurunziza Nkurunziza Charles-Rushusha to have stolen the corpse.

 Detective Danis Onyanga confirmed that the old woman died because of alcohol and the body is at Kisoro Hospital mortuary and it will be handed over to relatives for burial when the two families come to an agreement because the complainant Nkurunziza Rushusha told police that the step son might be the one who killed the woman.
Nkurunziza told police that Kanyange was killed by step son who want to take her property.
 Meanwhile our efforts to talk to the complainant Nkurunzizawere futile as he did not pick our repeated phone calls.
