The Ministry of Health in Uganda has
ordered all unvaccinated health workers to vacate their work places.
In a letter dated 3rd December 2021 directed to all Chief Administrative Officers, Heads of National referral hospitals and all Directors of regional referral hospitals, Dr. Henry G. Mwebesa the Director General Health Services ordered a follow up on the vaccination of health workers against COVID-19.
According to Dr. Mwebesa, the government of Uganda has priotized vaccination of the population against COVID-19 as one of the key requirements for the full reopening of the economy and health workers have been given priority to take the jab.
The Director General Health Services noted that however the above not withstanding, he is aware that some health workers are yet to complete the two doses of vaccination or even to receive the first dose of the same.
Following the above, Dr. Mwebesa instructed all unvaccinated health workers to stay away from their places of work until they get vaccinated.
