The training of women in bakery, soap
making and Jerry making started on Monday 13th December at Mubano Hotel in
kisoro Municipality and was supported by the ministry of Gender, labour and
social development.
The trainers came from the Industrial Research Institute Kampala in partnership with the Ministry of Gender,Labour and social development.
Birungi Front the Kisoro municipality senior Community Development Officer thanked minister for bringing trainers in the district.
He implored women to use skills to develop since there are no lands for cultivation.
Gakuru Gideon the district labour officer said Minister Nyirsbashitsi is doing a great work to ensure skill development in Kisoro.
The Kisoro district CAO Musa Ounzu Ismail told the trained women that the skills they have got should be a starting point for a new life.
He told them to work with sub county chiefs and parish chiefs so that their ideas can be easily funded.
Lamazan Ndikuyeze the LC3 chairperson told the beneficiaries to put in action the skills they have acquired.
The Kisoro municipality Mayor Ndyana Richard commended Hon Nyirsbashitsi for bringing experts to train women in vocational skills.
Ndyana says what Nyirsbashitsi is doing in Kisoro will be a legacy as the skills will help to develop the district.He told trainees not to be selfish but they should teach others in villages.
The minister for Gender, labour and social development Hon Sarah Nyirsbashitsi Mateeke who is behind equipping women with vocational skills thanked women for attending the training. She added that the next training will be extended to Rubuguru and other sub counties. She says the skills they have acquired should make the self-reliance financially instead of waiting everything from husbands.
She asked them not to sleep on the acquired skills and that they should maintain sanitation.
They commended Hon Minister Nyirabasitsi for skilling women that will help them to employ themselves.
