Residents of Nyarusiza
Sub County, Bufumbira South, Kisoro district have expressed concern over bad
roads.
Residents raised their
concerns to the state minister for Gender, labor and social development in
charge of Children and Youth affairs Hon Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateeke ON Friday 18th
November who toured Gitenderi and Rukongi parishes as she enlightens people
about government programs
Residents say the poor
roads have greatly affected the movement of people and their goods to the
market centers and increased mechanical damages to vehicles.

chairperson Nsabimana Erasmus says most of the roads are in bad conditions with
deep gullies which he says is a trap to road users.
In her response to the concerns, Hon Minister Sarah
Nyirabashitsi said she has witnessed how bad the roads have been damaged but
said the inconvenience faced by road users is not intentional but due to a lot
of running water. She said that she has contacted UNRA and promised her that
the machine will be delivered to Kisoro next week but will start in Nyakabande
Sub County.
Meanwhile Hon Minster Nyirabashitsi called upon
people of Nyarusiza to form groups and request money for UWEP, youth
livelihood, grants for elderly, PDM funds, and emyooga.
In a related development, Minister Nyirabashitsi was
worried after learning that children drop out of schools for fear of travelling
long distances.
Nsabimana Erasmus said that Musasa and Kabonero villages
are still lagging behind in educating children. However parents say schools are
far from their villages.
