Two more suspects connected to the
murder of 24-year-old Patel Kumar Kuntaj during a broad light assassination on
the 27th of October 2022 have today
appeared before the Kisoro Chief Magistrates Court.
The suspects are Ntibakuze Godfrey
aged 35 and Patel Hatel aged 48.
The state
prosecution told court, that the two suspects and others are being charged with
two counts of Murder and Conspiracy to commit Murder.
Court led
by Chief Magistrate Komakech Kenneth heard that Ntibakuze Godfrey Alias Kafero
is a Boda Boda Cyclist and resident of Bunama Village, Gasovu Parish in
Nyarusiza Sub County while Patel Hatel is an Indian business man in Kisoro
municipality and a resident of Kabale Municipality in central cell, Central
ward in central division.
Other suspects include Elioda Gumizamu
aged 21, who shot and killed the Indian businessman on 27th October
2022, Bernard Nteziyaremye commonly known as Lampard aged 36, Gardiso
Nyabangabo commonly known as Gardson aged 36 and Charles Nteziryayo aged 56.
They have since been arrested and were introduced before the Kisoro chief
magistrate court on 4th November this year.
His
worship Komakech Kenneth denied the suspects from entering a plea saying it is
a preserve of the high court.
Meanwhile, Hatel Patel's lawyer Ngaruye Ruhindi Boniface of Ngaruye Ruhindi and company advocates had his bail application for his client turned down by His worship Komakech while counsel Nabasa Rodgers,Kafero's lawyer from Amarvins and company advocates had his plea granted to have his client medically treated due to torture injuries.
The
suspects are expected to re-appear in court on the 6th of December 2022.
