Angry residents of Kirwa Village, Karambi Parish Nyarubuye sub-county have today morning killed a man who was suspected to have been stealing animals from homes of different people.
The deceased was identified as Hakizimana Derrick between 24_26 years of age who was killed by mob at around 1:00am . Residents said he was found stealing a Pig of Ruzaria Olivia.
The body of the deceased was found in a stream in Kabaya village early today morning.
According to police statement the villagers atteEmpted to arrest him but he escaped from them and ran a way.
Angry mob chased and overpowered him, arrested near Kyongoroka water stream where he was Lynched and dumped in the said water stream.
The Kigezi region police Spokesperson Elly Maate said the Scene of crime was visited by Homicide team, Photos taken and sketch plan drawn.
Post mortem done at site where the body was discovered.
Elly Maate said that further inquires are at hand to establish the truth of the matter and those involved so that are brought to book.
Security sources at Kisoro prison say that Hakizimana escaped from the Kisoro prison three months ago after being charged with aggravated robbery.
Sources continue to say that the deceased was one of M23 rebels in Democratic Republic of Congo
Some of the residents say theft is common in Nyarubuye sub-county and that many Pigs, cows and goats have been stolen and sold to DRC.
They said the deceased used to disturb the community during the night wearing a green Army uniform.
Residents said that the deceased could come with a gun and steal people’s properties and at times rape some girls with a help of a Gun.
Nzabarinda Tadeo the father to the deceased said his son was a hardworking son and he could help him with some money for domestic use. Nzabarinda said his son was killed without an exhibit showing that he was stealing.
Police searched the pockets of the deceased and found an introductory LC1 letter of Kirwa village with him. The letter was written by Kabagwira Peace the secretary of village.
