The kisoro Municipal town clerk Sharifa has said she was against putting soil in potholes on tarmac roads in Kisoro Nakintu said she had refused to release funds because she was totally against the act.
During the municipal council meeting that was on 7th December 2021,Kisoro Municipal council engineer Aloyse Semahoro promised the council to work on pot holes in the central town before the year 2021 ends.
Semahoro said this, after the councilors asked him to explain the plan he has for potholes on old tarmac along Rukimbira,Chuho and Mutanda roads.
Engineer Semaphore told the council that the quality of kisoro Roads require murram because of the way they were made originally.
Towards Christmas, road gangs were seen patching the potholes with soil.
This angered concerned people who said the municipal engineer fooled the council just to get rid of questions by Councilors.
In a heated debate on a WhatsApp group called people asked town clerk to respond to their concerns.
In her response Kisoro municipal town clerk Sharifa Nakintu said "I actually had issues with my staff about the way the Roads were worked on.I was totally against putting soil in the pot holes and I had refused to release funds .My argument was that we should put only bitumen because that’s what’s done in Mbarara. In the last council that we had the Engineer informed us that Mbarara roads are first class roads and that’s why they put bitumen to patch the pot holes. He added that the quality of kisoro Roads require murram because of the way they were made originally".
