People in
Kisoro municipality are requesting Police in Kisoro to increase security as
cases of Robbery and attacks increase in the town.
This was
said by people and some victims who were recently attacked by the unknown thugs
moving at night with pangas, sticks and knives.
Recently,
the Kisoro district DPC Musisi Richard said most of the thugs caught by police
in its operations are students from different schools in Kisoro municipality.
Some students were aligned in court
Some of
the residents in Karumena village said the cases of theft are increasing most
especially in Karumena and Kamonyi villages.
Some of
the Victims who were attacked by the thugs said that thugs took off
with their properties and were severely assaulted . They call upon
Police to intervene and add more security in the area.
The LCI
chairperson of Karumena village Daud line called upon secondary school
administrators to put some measures in place to control students from escaping
because they have become a problem in town.
Daud line
also called upon the security committee to also deploy UPDF in Kisoro town
because thugs are becoming a problem as we approach the festive season.
He requested Kisoro magistrate court
and grade 1 to be giving such thugs deterring sentences rather than fining
them.
The Kisoro RDC Hajji Shafikki Ssekandi
who is the chairperson of the security committee in the district said that he
is going to meet the magistrates over the minimum sentence they give to
criminals who hurry to plead guilty.
On Saturday 8th September Felix
Twinomugisha aka Ekirengabazaana who work with Kabirit energy drink was
attacked in Kamonyi village by panga wielding thugs who injured him and took off
with his money.
