As many continue to complain over increasing cases of criminality in Kisoro municipality, a 33 year old woman was last Saturday 15th attacked and robbed of her phone by unknown goons near Lift up Jesus church.
Nyirasafari Judith, a resident of Kamonyi village, Northern division in Kisoro municipality says she was attacked as she was heading to Kisoro town at around 6:30 am.
Nyirasafari, who was carrying her baby on the fateful day, said she was attacked by two men who she found sitting by the roadside. She says one attacked her from the back and another one in front.
Although she made an alarm that attracted neighbours and a security guard to her rescue, the attackers had to run away with her phone.
She says that she reported the case to Kisoro police, but appeals to security to enhance patrols in Kamonyi and Karumena areas.
Nyirasafari is among many people who were attacked by unknown thugs in the municipality during night hours.
One of the people who responded to Nyirasafiri’s alarm says many people have been attacked from the same area by unknown thugs.
In related development the Kisoro municipality Mayor Richard Ndyana was this weekend attacked by unknown people who took off with his phone.
Ndyana confirmed this and said they convened a security meeting to find a solution to the rising criminality. He said they are going to carry out sensitization meetings in communities and schools. It is alleged that some criminals are school going students from boarding schools in Kisoro municipality.
Meanwhile a secondary teacher at Kisoro Vision SS has been summoned by Kisoro police over allegations of robbery. Sources within the school administration confirmed that the police summon was delivered at school.
However, the alleged suspect, Henry Mbonimpa, who was supposed to appear at Kisoro police yesterday, said he did not receive the summons and denied any wrongdoing.
