Kisoro Municipality on 4th Friday
January 2022 commenced a drive to raise over 60 million shillings for purchasing
land where to construct staff quarters at Zindiro health center III
The
drive started with meeting at Kisoro municipal council hall where a committee to
coordinate all activities was formed.
Zindiro health center is located in
Zindiro village, Kamonyi ward, Northern Division Kisoro Municipality and was
upgraded to a health center III status in June last year but it lacks accommodation
facility for its staff making health workers to sleep in store houses of the
health center.
Last month, the ministry of health
offered 150 million to Kisoro Municipality to aid the activity of constructing the
staff quarters.
According to the facility’s clinical
officer who doubles as an In-charge Mbonye Evarist, Zindiro health center admits
over 1,200 patients every month and health workers need to live near them to
acquire quality health care.
He commended government that has
supported the facility since it was upgraded in June last year. He called upon
all concerned citizens to contribute to the fundraising campaign because
diseases do not have boundaries.
The Northern Division LCIII Chairperson,
Bazamaza Micheal applauded the ministry of health for supporting the cause with
150 million shillings. He noted that the division needs over 100 million to
purchase land where to construct staff quarters and also expand Zindiro health
center’s compound as it prepares to be upgraded to a health center IV status.
The Kisoro Municipal Mayor, Ndyana
Richard said that three pieces of land have been availed near the facility by
willing sellers. He also noted that Municipality will receive the 150 million
shilling donation from central government during this month. He noted that
municipal authorities resolved to have a fundraising drive to raise over 60
million shillings because it had not prepared for it.
He also noted that the fundraising
campaign will last for one month and a few days.
The committee that was formed is
comprised of, Mayor Ndyana Richard being the chairperson; Central Division Chairman
Ndikuyeze Ramazan was voted as vice chairman, Peace Ruzaza as the treasurer among
others.
Ramazana requested everybody to support
the fundraising campaign because Zindiro HCII is a big addition to the health
sector of Kisoro Municipality.
