While attending their meeting at the institution on Tuesday 23 April 2023, different parents said that before Kisoro municipal vocational training institute was started, their children used to go to far districts to look for vocational training, making it costly to them.
They also noted that their children that have graduated in the same school are having a successful career compared to those that studied in other institutions.
Parents also commended the institution’s administration for being friendly especially on fees issues. They demanded the administration to make extensions of the institute to other parts of the district and also start offering courses at a diploma level.
According to the institution’s principal Tumwizere Michael, KIMUVOTI started in 2018 with a major aim of training unemployed youths on hands-on skills to create their own jobs. He added that the institution was later opened to people from other areas and over 500 youths have graduated in different courses.
He encouraged parents to always send their children to vocational institutes because one can upgrade from a lower level to a higher one while earning.
The Institution director and former Kisoro municipal mp Hon. Sam Byibesho commended parents for always playing their role, a reason that has made the institution flourish. He asked students to love their courses if they must benefit from them in the future. He added that the institution is likely to become a university in the future because it has all required services.
Meanwhile, he highlighted that the institution has started weekend programs for some courses while Wi-Fi services have been installed to facilitate online courses. He assured parents and students of longevity for the institution because it has its own land, structures and has been registered.
KIMUVOTI currently has over 350 students and has applied to start offering Diploma courses according to Sam Byibesho.
